Re: 2002 road to negril
I remember when all that road construction was going on. Inch by marl inch it kept creeping down the coast. For a long time it was so much faster to get from MoBay to Negril or visa versa via the inland road which gave a different sort of scenery to contemplate. I still like to go that way sometimes. My favorite portion of the ride is the twisty turny spot they call Long Hill - the steep climb up from, or down into MoBay where it's all tree and fern shaded. Going that way is a good excuse to stop in at the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary too, and a stop at Border Jerk for some roast breadfruit and spicy jerk pork.

Re: 2002 road to negril
A child of the 70s I recall the 2 plus hours it took to get from MoBay to Negril. Was surprised three years ago when I returned, to find a new super direct road. A couple of weeks ago, Breezy gave us a ride to MoBay, he picked up a friend needing a ride to MoBay to buy a car part, he is a driver who expressed concerned about the congestion increased traffic and density. Whatever, I blurted out that perhaps ferries running from MoBay to Negril would be a solution. I'd like to retain the illusion of Negril's remoteness, but currently live on an island where ferries supplement travel. Ferrries to a point near Negril, is this a dumb idea?
