    White Sands

Coming back to Negril this summer for my 14th trip. I'm considering white sands. I've stayed there before in a deluxe room and liked it. This trip, due to my budget, I'm thinking about a standard room. My only question is beachside or gardenside? Has anyone stayed there that can help me out with a recommendation?

They have a terrific Groupon deal running right now for the standard rooms on the garden side.

We stayed in garden side standard for ATI. It's a fine room.

We stayed on the beach side 2nd floor room 4. Nice, plain and has a balcony. 30 second walk to the beach and bar.

Love Paul the bartender at White Sands. He's older, and quiet, but wonderful to observe. Watching him pour...all sorts of liquids into the blender, amazed me. So creative. He doesn't know it, but last year he inspired me to spend start experimenting, creating blender drinks. Mixologist in training? The last two visits, my last visit was almost two weeks ago, I bought fabulous juices from Tony, and from...what is the name of that other juice guy (?), on the beach. I bought fresh fruit, watch out for bananas, they are so ripe, they overpower the other juices. I bought coco rum and rum from the convenience store on the beach (Seasplash?), and began mixing and blending different drinks in the blender, in my room. Someone left nutmeg in my room---a must in blender drinks. It was fun to try different ingredients, and give samples to my friends on the beach. Next year (and I just booked next year's trip ), I plan to bring a package of small cups, to create samples. Anyway, the daily two-for one is sometimes a good deal. The Dirty Bananas would be better with Tia Maria, not some other coffee alcohol. Watch out for the Jamaican Delight on Saturday--a simple drink, but must be overproof rum and pineapple juice.

Gardenside standards are larger and newer than beachside. Also quieter. But you do have to cross the road.

either of these rooms are nice. i have stayed in both and do like the beach side better. (closer to the beach)rooms are a bit smaller but nice. as someone noted there is a groupon for the standard garden side for about $35 a night through the end of august. that is a great deal.
