    Re: The awful truth..

Thanks to all of you for your support!! Yes, I have learned a lot from this trip! Yes, I am going back...already looking at hotels! There are so many layers to Jamaica and I want to uncover them layer by layer.. It may take years.. but I am ready for the challenge!!! No, I will never, ever, give out my phone number again, or the name of my hotel. I will never walk in the dark in the cliff area. (I knew most of those rules, but got there and got caught up in the magic of this beautiful country!) ~~ Here comes a crazy part..When I was at an AI 9 years ago (Trelawny), there was a Rasta type guy reading peoples palms. Of course, he was actually in the resort area, we were basically told it wasn't wise to leave the resort area. He looked at me and started talking about my Grandma who had passed the year before. He was so spot on about it, I was moved to tears. No one would know the things he spoke to me about. That always touched my heart. When Les and I were walking on the cliff area, I looked up and saw the name of a road..Ella Drive! Yep, that was her name, just Ella, not Drive! Also the fact that when she was in a nursing home (at 98), there were a plethora of nurses aides from Jamaica.. And they doted on her and made her feel so good.. She said they were always smooching on her.. will never forget that or the feeling I have in Jamaica!~~ Things I regret about my trip? No grizzada, no dirty banana from Yellow Bird..and no 1/3 of a 'special' brownie!!! Cannot wait for next year!!!!!!

thank you for a great trip report! This reminded me of my first trip to Negril, I also stayed at Samsara. and paid so much money for cabs..Luckily this was back in the day when my friend who was in real estate had money...now we take jamaican taxis' or when going into a cab them the cabbie what we are willing to pay.."Can you take me up to Hi Lo for $10.00?" usually the cabbies are great and say yes..they know you are not newbies when you negotiate with them. Next time check out country country, or coco La Palm and explore the beach! and go on negril.com first and get restaurant recommendations first. Boardies have the best recommendations, so you won't get ripped off either! Take Care

I will probably feed every dog I see so I understand... I have soo much love for these animals I just cant walk by... The way I see it it's like just walking past a homeless person like they aren't even there like they don't even matter... They have feelings too and if I can make them feel a little better and give them a little attention I feel I have done my part.
Juls, This report was amazing I definitely took note of places and names (especially the scammer)... Appreciate you writing even tho you were a little self conscious...
Hope we get reports from you every time!

    Soon come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your report, you've earned a few Stripes!

The dogs learn as a puppy to eat chicken bones, fish bones, and which pieces to leave behind.

I love newbie reports! Thanks for sharing. We made a lot of similar mistakes. If you learn from them each trip will get better.

one thing I have found to be really good to bring to JA is quite a bit of one US dollars & five US dollars for taxi rides. Some of the taxi drivers want totally too much $$. Juls, I enjoyed your trip report, ignore the nasty comments from that one person. On message boards, no need to be fussy about grammer or spelling for that matter. When in Jamaica I always write down taxi drivers phone numbers & have a great three part system: early morning Orange hill route taxi's (I stay on the west end); late night taxi drivers, as well as the van type of taxi men who leave hotels for the Mobay Airport (I have them drop me off at Bloody Bay) & then upon their return, they call me 1/2 an hour before they are returning & I walk out to the road for them to pick me up. Having a phone is really helpful & saves you $$$.
