    Gardenia Resort questions...

Hi, I have passed on my addiction to Negril to a co-worker who came down with me last month for her first trip. She wants to visit again in June. She is looking at Gardenia Resort. Could you please give me any info you have?

Also, what part of the beach road is it on? Where is the nearest beach access?

    Thanks,

    Me

Ditto what the others said except I've never sent anyone there. I knew someone who worked there years ago. Like me, my friends like to be ON the beach, not across the road. If your friend wants beach... have her check out Negril Beach Club Condos. Regulars will be there in the summer, on the beach, an easy walk to town, convenience stores nearby, huge beach, etc. Also would have a kitchen which would save $$$ on meals. We'll make her feel welcome. When in June? I get there mid-month.

I sent a friend who is Jamaican for a last minute room the night before the Reggae Marathon , close to the start line, luckily after being jerked around by the manager, a maid found him a better room with ac that worked.

Sad to see the poor reviews considering the press this place received. Not sure if capital is the issue, as many complaints mention poor management. Not sure why they cannot cannibalize a couple of rooms to make others whole. Places like this make me want to quit my awesome day job.......

This was the place that was featured on Hotel Impossible. I, too, am sad to see the poor reviews. Looked like a nice place for the money; just needed a little TLC and more assertive management.

I would look at Pure Garden, instead. A similar property on the morass side, which seems to get good reviews. However, like PGW said, you should also be able to get a good price on a beach side hotel since it is the slow season.

Thanks...I didnt really know anything about the place, and forgot about the Hotel Impossible visit.

I have steered her away from it, and she agrees that she would prefer being beachside. Her budget is tight and I think it was the cost per night that was attracting her anyway. We will find her something else I am sure.

Yvonne, she is looking at June 14 to 21....which irritates me to no end...thats when I am usually there and I won't be able to do it this year!!

Orchid we are there that next week and got a phenomenal rate at Fun Holiday. On the Beach with huge pool and it sounds like lots of activity. I knew it wasnt 4 star but paying 60 a night for 2 good deal. For one person I sent a friend over there when we were in town during ATI last summer and it was less even during that peak time. Get your rates via email as they differ from online significantly but they have a site online with all the pictures. My needs are simple Clean safe rooms and property in good location was all I needed and it more than fills that for me. I love NBCC but that used to be my home base for many years, I no longer stay there as it does not any longer fit my needs.

I second ShellyK's advice. You can't beat Fun Holiday's price for the location. Soon Come...
