They started renovations on the pool and I think the beach-front suites on that side. Kinda noisy on that side.

As of mid last week construction had started. We were told that all the beach front rooms are being renovated and a third story being built on the ones all the way on the right when standing on the beach facing Coco. I think the pool was closed because of the room that is at the top of the stairs by the adult pool. The beauty salon was closed and gutted also. On Sunday they started jack hammering a hole in the side of the gift shop. Gift shop was still open. There will be a new indoor restaurant somewhere. We got a few different stories about the rooms on the right. Some employees said they will renovate half of them from the beach toward the road, others said it will be all of them. Either way there is plywood up from the beach to the road. Someone also said the new restaurant would replace the beachfront one but I am not sure if that is so. I guess we will have to wait and see what is true and what is not. Coco's restaurant was never busy the 10 days we were there other than breakfast. The front office said they expect it to be done in November.

They are converting the 2nd floor beachfront rooms into one giant master junior suite/honeymoon suite. The are renovating the room that overlooks the pool but they are not taking out the pool or that room.
The new restaurant is going to be in the gift shop area behind the beachfront room.
    Here is what they announced
    Exciting News!!!
Coco La Palm, Negril has announced a start date of May 15, 2014 for upgrading of standard rooms. Slated for completion by Nov. 15, 2014 the new... phase will include 26 new rooms including standard and superior honeymoon suite as well as a indoor restaurant!
All current standard room bookings will be upgraded automatically.
The work area will be entirely closed but there will be some level of noise from 9 am to 5 pm only.

    Re: coco lapalm fence?

Hmmmm....now that I've booked my reservation for September and Coco La Palm is my beach stay part of my trip. I'm wondering if I want to reserve a room while renovations are being done to the properties! Any thoughts?

I think you'd be okay - ask for a room on the Sandy Haven side. If they're planning to be done for November, most of the noisy work should be done by September - you would hope they'd be doing inside work by then...

I agree with 2 nutz. It should be inside work only so you won't hear anything.

You should be in my yard. Coco La Palm has a building on the non-beach side of the road, just next to us at Mary Gate of Heaven. A big front-loader and huge dump trucks are bringing all sort of stuff from the beach side to our side. They have a large area of garden and space this side of the Morass . Those big babies make a lot of noise--and it ain't September yet. No offense to you visitors but I'll be happy when the noise is on the beach side and the quiet is on our side. --Fadder Jim P.S. No, it's not impacting my prayer life!

You cannot predict inside work towards the end. I booked Catcha towards the end of their renovations and listened to a jackhammer for a day while they made room behind the bar. I would stay elsewhere.......
