Didn't get his name. Looked to be late 50's early 60's average height slightly balding, with a very pretty young Jamaican lady.

Nope, not the guy I'm thinking of. Jim is large, and in charge.

How was your stay @ SamSara?

We booked Samsara for $50 a night - cheap, in our opinion, so we went there expecting the worst and knowing we would probably upgrade.
Staff was not overly friendly, but pleasant - we were informed that our room was a cottage across the road. Fair enough, for that price. We checked it out, and it was really cute, and roomy. However, no air conditioning, no ocean view and probably a few too many mosquitoes. We upgraded to a second floor room with ocean view and A/C for $30 more per night. Still cheap.
We had absolutely no problems there. Of course, we only ate one breakfast and 2 lunches there... otherwise we enjoyed the wide variety of nearby dining establishments. We loved Pablo's across the street - $12 for both of us to have french toast, fruit and coffee. Best french toast I think I have ever had.
Samsara was clean and suited us fine. It's a 3.5 star and was fine. What we really loved was the very expansive sunning decks with many levels of cliffs to leap off. Snorkeling was quite good there too.

View of the little cottage across the road - beautiful gardens!

I love Pablo, he's doing some seriously good cooking down there. Cheap too. Last time we just called him with our order and he'd call back when almost ready... Nice guy.

Awesome, hey?! My husband recently had a health scare of major proportions... he's not out of the woods yet, but things are looking a bit brighter - part of the reason we took a last minute trip to our favourite place... and he has a new lease on life and is really feeling it!

I agree that firefly has lost some of the appeal now that it is not CO. Glad you had a nice trip, thx for the pics. One moth to go until we are back at xtabi!

Enjoy your trip! We lunched at Xtabi and then went snorkeling... it was a lovely afternoon.

It will be interesting to see if Firefly's business declines because of the new owners eliminating clothing optional. Was it the only place on the beach that offers that option? If so it's too bad. We would have entertained it next year but not now that the c/o is gone. Lots of nice places to stay in Negril for well under $200 per night.
