Secret's super cabin? Sunquest status - seaview

Hello, happy to report I'm (mostly) booked for New Year's, early Jan. Booked for the cliffs first few nights then off to try GP for the balance (can't believe I'm trying AI in Negril, but the price was incredible for that time of year vs my fave non AI places).

I've decided that I may prefer to be on the beach for NYE, my first night. I've got it down to these two available places, in my budget, and will take me for just the one night.

Option 1: Secret's Super Secret cabin is a newer, larger cabin with private inside bathroom and a veranda. Anyone with knowledge to share? Have you seen this cabin? How close to the sand? View from veranda? I've been impressed with my email exchange so far and have read that the staff is great there.

Option #2: Sunquest Cottages, seaview room. Always had this on my list when it was Wild Parrot. Called and both seaview rooms are available for the one night.

Prices for option 1 and 2 are pretty much the same...which to choose for NYE?

    Thanks!

P.S. Mobay arrivals for the afternoon of Dec 31st??? Arriving around 2:30 p.m. Is it busy or quiet the afternoon of NYE typically? I think it's a Wed this year, if that matters.

Hey Melody, I would think that the airport would be quiet on NY Eve. We arrived last year on Christmas day at that time of day (WestJet out of Toronto??) and it was pretty quiet. Given that it's a Wednesday, you should be okay... We're arriving the Sat before Christmas this year and will definitely be booking the Club MoBay arrivals service

Thanks 2Nutz. Hope it'll be quiet.

No comments yet regarding my accommodation options...I gather that Secrets cabins are within the Firefly property. No boardies checked them out at the bash? Don't think I could do the shared outdoor bathroom very rustic little cabins there but was intrigued when I found out about their newer "Secret" cabin, must really be a secret! I've only seen one pic online and am hoping they'll email a couple more to get a better idea.

I'm a bit leery of the Sunquest Cottages option, no idea what's happening with management there...and I feel like I'm missing some insider info. A little uncomfortable that they don't seem to have email, have to call them...so there wouldn't be an email confirmation...not like I'd likely have a lot of other choices NYE if I arrive to find my reservation got lost. Orchid or Weatherman or any other fans have any info? Pm me if you like. Thanks!

I would check out the new rooms at Sunbeach right next to Firefly. They are nice and can't ask for a better location.

How do you get in touch with Sunbeach? Are the room rentals called something? Did a search and haven't found anything.

This phone number should work.876-957-9118. I don't have any other info, but other boardies might chime in.

I've stayed multiple times at the larger Firefly apartments that have kitchens and private bathrooms. I've always been courious about what it would be like to stay in one of the Secrets cabins as the rates are great. Like you, the one thing that always turned me off was the shared bathroom and not having a fridge. I finally made the leap and it was great. They cleaned the bathrooms at least every day (sometimes multiples times) and the reality is that so few people use them, they're never far from spotless. The toiletts are seperate from the showers. And the showers are great. They're open air (no roof) with a half swinging door that can be latched. There is something amazing about showering outdoors. I will say that when I do go back and stay in one of the apts, i will be using the outdoor shower. As for the fridge, it wasn't a big deal, but I did miss keeping some left overs or fruit for snacks when everything shuts down.

I haven't seen the super secrets cabin, but if it's the one I think it is, it's about 60 steps from the sand.

We have stayed many ties at FF, but not in the Secrets cabins. A great spot on the beach a short walk from several good bars and restaurants. We loved the staff who treated us like family, but since the FF changed owners in April, we understand that several of the long time staff have left. A big draw of FF was the clothing optional beach which the new owners have done away with.
