    and...

It will be tough to coordinate a schedule with airline flights. I can jump in a taxi and be in Negril in 1 Hour or 1 1/2 hours tops. If I have travel to the Ferry Terminal and then wait for the ferry, travel to Negril with stops in Lucea and maybe one other stop, then wait in Negrl for a taxi to my resort??? Sounds way too complicated.

    Cassidygirl,

EXACTLY!! "Where in Negril is this thing going to dock with all of these people? How often? Kinda ruins the tranquil vibe."

In order to make this "float" they will need to stop at Lucea, Negril, White House and Treasure Beach. Lots of stops and the delay of coordinating people and luggage??? I don't think this is such a good idea. How far from the Airport will the ferry terminal be located? Then when you dock in Negril, you will need to call a taxi to get to your Hotel??? Sounds complicated to me.

    Hate to be negative, but.....

I'm sticking with my driver. This would be similar to hopping on a bus with loads of other peeps.

If $30 is truly the cost as Lisa asks our opinion I would absolutely do this. It states it would be direct to Ochi, and Negril in the Observer article. No way in hell per the recent ferry situations would I go below surface. I come to Jamaica for the ocean and the water , the water is where I prefer to spend all my time, in it, on it in boats and sleeping with the sound of it. Now with the exception if this took longer to get to these destinations I would do it as a transfer between Negril-Ochi as I have more free time. I love the view from the water.

Lisa wrote the ferry will cost $30-m(illion) US, that is the investment to build it, no estimates on trip costs yet

I would stay my driver for the comfort of not being crammed in with a bunch of other people. Plus, you will have to get transportation to the ferry port from the airport in Mo Bay and then again from the ferry port in Negril depending on where they put it.

The high speed cat ferries certainly do well in the US where they go to islands that are only reachable by air or sea (Fire Island, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Catalina, etc), or represent a significant shortcut over roads by cutting across a sound, bay or great lake.

Not sure they will add much for Jamaica which has pretty good roads (now) between these cities, but I will keep an open mind.

Just got back to Florida after a six day work trip at Zion Hill.

I'll do some research and check the company out on it's US operations with USCG National Maritime Center (NMC)

Just off the top of my head I don't think a ferry to Negril make logistical or economic sense.

    More later
