The beach in front of tree house

Has to be at least 10 feet wide. I'm talking about the beach directly in front of the bar and seating area. I have never seen the beach so wide there or in front of mariposa and Tonys hut.

Yup, when I was there in December I thought the beach was especially wide but then when I came back in March it was even wider. It will change again not doubt but so glad its wide for now.

Love it! Noticed it a couple of weeks ago. You have plenty of area to walk in front of the restaurant - instead of having to swim - just like back in the good old days. Please Beach/Sand Gods - let it stick around for my August trip!

I second that!! the last time I saw the beach in front of Treehouse (last year) it was bad so I never had the desire to stay there so Aug this year will be my first time saying there hopefully not my last!

As I posted originally back about 2 years ago, as an interesting side note, a global map showing the actual world sea level from 1993 to 2010 taken from satellite data was released earlier in 2012. This study is the first of its kind and shows that Jamaica has actually seen a sea level decrease for that 17 year time period. (Please note the light and darker blue colors surrounding the Negril - this denotes about a 1-3 mm decrease in the sea level)

I am sure all those numerous storms we had in mid 2000's (that one year they ran out of names!??!) led to more than its share of the "erosion" stories did that occurred back then at the Treehouse and any other properties being talked about. The whole beach was different at that time and has taken time to return.

But out of curiosity, should something really be called "erosion" if it can come back?

Can things "un-erode"? Or would that be like something "un-rusting" once that something has become rusted and ruined? (grin)

If it can "un-erode", did it actually "erode" in the first place? Or just get misplaced and put back?

    More food for thought...

Gosh Rob you and your science are ruining my "Beach/Sand God Theory"... I guess next your going to tell me that my baseball team wining or losing has nothing to do with whether I am wearing my jersey or not! (FYI -they do win when I wear my jersey!)

I too find this fascinating. I first went to Negril in the mid 90s and remember how wide the beach was then. The way I have always gauged the beach was how far out in the water that restaurant was at NTH. Just last June, I walked down that stretch of beach a few different days and always had to come up onto the NTH property, walk up to the restaurant area by the pool, and then back down to the beach to get past it without wading into fairly deep water by going in front.
