"Massage board"......wrong forum, that is a sub forum of the Hedo forum....unless there is an adult section here that I have yet to find.

SO....is a massage more comforting/relaxing after ganja? If the show up at your place services go @ $1 a minute like the states, how much does the worker get? Do you get slapped if you ask about a happy ending? Ah f-it massage board stuff is boring.,.......

Limo man, Jamaicans call weed many names as do the rest of us, I mean please who have you met that calls it subs other than people of this board??

Also in answer to your comment directed at me, I use a lot of route cars, when I'm there and sometimes a charter as well as drive myself. I don't ask for anything other than a ride, nor is anything else offered. When you say 99% drivers do, that is your perception as you obviously ask them as a smoker. I think your stats are very wild and based on your own experience.

FYI, I am , nor do I look like a church person, or anything other prim and proper . I am a normal woman who carries myself with the same values and respect for me and for others than I do at home. I don't come to Jamaica to smoke as it's readily available in the UK. I dont have a limited view of Jamaica and Jamaicans either. I live in the real world all of the time, I don't need your reality check.

I like ECO,s response in terms of selling crack to a crack head . Some tourists, not all, definitely fit a certain stereotype and that's why you get offered drugs all the time. Your known for buying, and they target you. Some people do get asked a couple of times but after saying no, this dies down.
Most of the places to stay or socialise, recommended on this board by members are full of a particular crowd that do come to Jamaica to get high, and don't have any real experience of Jamaicans outside of the service industry. Again a very limited view as you are in a target market that has been cultivated by tourists as well. Outside of this, life is very different.
I actively avoid these places and that tourist experience.

I think some on this board give very mixed messages, boast about how many times they visit Negril, use Jamaican dialect, say they love it, then are quick to offer a negative stereotypical view of Jamaicans and Jamaica.

    Well said.

As it has been noted before, living in Jamaica (especially "rural" Jamaica) is so different than visiting Negril regularly and hanging out where tourists and locals mix and actively share ganja and other substances.

And furthermore, it seems that some of the frequent and long time visitors have developed that negative stereotypical view and complain when things don't run like they think things should. If you are unhappy with Jamaica (especially Negril) then you should try getting out of the bubble or consider another vacation location.

Jamaica is what Jamaica is. Love it or leave it but you can't change it.

Just my opinion and not based on any cut and paste Google facts.

My comment was about your post that you would not want to have part time drug dealer driving you around. My response to that is the reality check is finding a driver who is not a part time dealer. If you don't ask Westender how do you know if that they are not a part time or full time dealer ????? Fact: Westender you have been driven by a part time dealer if you are in a route or charter vehicle in negril.

I hope I don't lose my sense of humor or my grasp of reality.

The whole "Negril as a destination thing" is based on the availability of subs.
It started late "60's - early 70's" by sub smoking hippies (hippies who could afford to travel anyway).

I really don't understand the "scolds" who have hijacked this thread.
The OP appeared to be a newbie asking a very fair newbie question.

I don't understand people attempting to shame GerryG.
Free spenders like GerryG make Negril what it is, and Negril's reputation for being open-minded is what draws folks like GerryG.

I also don't understand the negation of ganga.
Peter Tosh: "Legalize it and I'll advertise it."
    Bob Marley: "Wake up and turn I loose . . . "

If Negril ever put the clamps on "sub" indulgence it would destroy their tourist industry.
    Someone refute that please.

I was in Denver recently and I couldn't stop Peter Tosh's "Legalize It" from playing in my head.
The line, "There'll be no more smoking and hiding . . . " really hit me.
In Denver you walk into a store ask for what you want and they give it to you, no shame, no covertness involved.
I wonder if this has impacted Denver's tourist industry?
That rug really tied the room together.

    Re: subs

    Rum,

The OP's question was answered quite well by you and others.

I dont see anyone "negating" ganja, except for the fact that it is still currently illegal. And I have mentioned that will probably change before the year is over.

The problem with Gerry is that he posted information that is terribly misleading, which could confuse any first time or even few time visitor and possibly get them into serious legal trouble. It is NOT EXTREMELY ok to smoke it almost anywhere, and smoking of any kind is banned at certain places now due to the island wide smoking ban.

The advice to ask first given by other members here has hopefully helped to correct his misinformation which could cause first time visitors legal entanglements.

No one wants that to happen to any visitors, especially first time visitors. No one should be allowed to post misleading and harmful information no matter how "free spending" that person is.

If information posted here is wrong and can cause harm, then it can and should be challenged. How much the poster spends should make no difference if they post harmful and incorrect information.

And posting personal opinion as fact is also very misleading and can cause newbies to get the wrong impression of Jamaica and Negril. Gerry was incorrect by saying "in fact there are more smokers than non-smokers at any given time on the island." This is as far from a fact as you can get since it is simply not true. There are never more smokers on the island than non-smokers. That is the truth.

The fact that Parliament is discussing the legalization of ganja should demonstrate that there is no intention of "putting the clamps" on ganja, alternately it demonstrates the exact opposite.

And from what I have gathered, Denver's as well as Colorado's tourism industry has had a boost, which is why the Jamaican government is working to pass this legislation as soon as practical.

the ability to travel on the road (not smoke) with small quantity would be a very nice freedom and limit the power of the local authorities to strong arm folks..... not that has happened to me...
