Ummmm, hey Karilynn... did you have your question answered?!
Don't waste your time with explanations, people only hear what they want to hear.

    Just wanted to add.....

I think it's a little disingenuous to make it seem as though its something that goes on in the margins. I read so many reviews where people are shocked at how prevalent it was. I normally assume these people didn't do enough research about where they were visiting\staying. Downplaying it does a disservice to those who would like to avoid being exposed to it.

I think at least some of that naivete has to do with forums that don't allow free talk. Trip Advisor is a great example, any thread like this would be censored very quickly.

No one is saying it's not prevalent in Negril....but GerryG is telling everyone that it's okay to smoke almost anywhere in Jamaica which is absolutely not true & this becomes a disservice to those that don't want to be exposed to it.

Everyone should be informed that there are places that are not okay with people just lighting up at their convenience....too many go around thinking & doing as Gerry does.

It is simple...ask first out of respect for the owner of the establishment, other patrons & the law.

That's something that in thought, I would pay good money to see. In reality, my conscience would never allow it knowing full well what the repercussions would be...

Seriously ....... Ganja in that circle is "don't ask, don't tell". Ganja is a part of Jamaican culture but many visitors don't understand one big thing. Do they really believe that the whole country is stoned/stupid all day?

When was the last time you saw someone at your hotel stoned? Yes, up in the hills the poorer class of young men smoke all day . The females are too busy making a living to smoke herb during the day.

You're on vacation so smoking and drinking all day is cool. But never think that what goes on on the 7 mile beach and cliffs is Jamaican standard.

So to answer the OP......... you won't have any problem finding herb in Negril. Just ask your hotel staff about where to smoke.

Agreed...It was meant to be a general comment but to avoid any confusion, my response was mostly directed at Westender's comments as far as this thread is concerned. Hopefully someday soon this topic will be as cut and dry as "where can I get a cold Red Stripe" and not rise to the level of " How do I use Route Taxi's"

Exasperated!!! So many negril experts on here it's funny.

Amsterdam have changed their laws on cannabis, wonder why?
The uk declassified cannabis years ago and then reclassified it due to the rise in cases of drug induced psychosis and crime rates.

All drivers are part time or full time drug dealers FACT!!! Okay then, your obviously the expert on this.

See if Colorado keeps those new laws as is in a few years!

The point about negril being more than the AI s, I would agree and I don't know why you made that point to me.
Negril and Jamaica is also more than a Tye dye tee shirt and a spliff .

So much of the negative about Jamaicans on here again, that I think some of you on this board really do travel there just to get high. Maybe the way you are when you are there has shaped the way some Jamaicans treat you and others, respect you or disrespect you. A bit of self reflection through your smoky haze might be needed.

Your experiences of JA are yours, but not everyone's.
I think the reason why there are so many guests and lurkers on this forum is because, it is very high school clicky on here sometimes, with an inner circle of people who stand shoulder to shoulder on every issue.
You have your own community when in Jamaica, and that's good, but there are many different types of visitor to negril.

I don't need the history on negril thanks, hilarious. You know nothing about me to offer this little lecture.

I'm sure most of my comments will be shot down in flames by the negril " mean girls"!
