Rob this wasn't based on the Island as a whole but the Negril area. You must drive yourself in Jamaica. Hard to believe that a driver in Negril would turn down a request for ganja and make some cash buy selling some ganja to there rider. Lets reality check that !
In the tourist environs like the beach or along the west end road yes, you may get lots of offers. I used to be surprised by how many Jamaicans do NOT smoke weed, now I'm surprised when I meet one that does, LOL.

Not to take a GerryG-ish guess at stats....but....I'd guess that more than half of the drivers in Negril could hook anyone up with ganja even if they don't offer it. Heck....more like 90%....maybe 99%. People have kids to feed and it's not like hooking someone up with ganja is like hooking them up with some sort of sin.

If Gerry meant what you think he meant, why did he emphatically state that his "statistics" were based on the people on the island at any given time? He never made any mention or reference of people in Negril, nor did he even mention basing his "facts' on his limited experience until after his claim was challenged by Bnewb and Ackee. And yet, he never said it was based on just his experience in Negril. I am not sure how you can claim he meant something he did not say. He didnt even claim that when given the chance.
His incorrect statement regarding the island can and would confuse any first time visitor and also many of those with less experience visiting Negril. There are thousands of those people that visit this website and message board everyday. Blatant and false speculation stated as fact will always be corrected on Negril.com. The truth is what is important here - not someone's misleading viewpoint based on their limited experience.
As BostonBob mentioned, a claimed para-legal wanting to become a lawyer, Gerry should know better than to state such erroneous information with no basis in fact whatsoever.
You can disagree, but after living here daily for over 20 years, I can say with certainty that most of the folks in Negril and especially on the island do not smoke anything at all.

Exactly! You know. When visiting as tourist and you fit the "target market" profile will get you lots of offers. Demand creates and controls the supply, simple economics.
But for those who know and live it, I can smile at your "surprise" at the number of Jamaicans that dont smoke ganja. We all went through that once you no longer "fit" that target market profile....
