I'm not sure why so many use the cambios when ATMs will give a better rate.

There are banks that have no ATM fees AND refund any fees charged if you use an out of network ATM.

When I use my TD Bank ATM card, I get money exchanged using up to the minute rates, no fees, no charges. Beats the cambio every time. If you're getting less than 110 JA for every $1 USD, you might be doing it wrong.

cambio in front of bourbon beach, very easy access...always use it, and rate not like 108 when it was 110, so i give up a little for the easy access

I always use the ATMs. Scotia Bank had not charged me transaction fees until this past trip. Not sure what the deal was this time. Generally, it is a bad idea to exchange money on the street. Not only are you going to expose all of your cash in open view, but you're also likely to get ripped off. Those guys aren't doing it for free.
