    prepaid debit cards?

    Has anyone used these down in Ja.? it seems like a good/safe way to carry your cash but there is still much i dont know. i worry about getting to the rock and finding out that Visa debit doesnt work in paradise.

    I don't know if many businesses would accept debit cards. Can you withdraw cash from them at ATMs?

    If it works, this is a brilliant idea - especially if you can withdraw cash from an ATM! I'm gonna keep an eye on this post!

    I can't see why it wouldn't be OK.

    I use a debit/atm card at the ATM several times a week in Ja over the last two years. The card is a Mastercard debit/ATM from my bank.

    Never a problem. Great rates,

    You can use the ATM with the pre-paid card. Contact the card company before you load one . Check on fees also.

    Do you have Scotiabank in Montreal? You can open an account, deposit your traveling cash and withdraw in Negril at any Scotia ATM for no fees.

    You can get cash with them but usually the fees are really high.
