Anyone else think that horses don't belong on the beach?

You have my vote. I know! I know! They're somebody's living .... but a lot seem sketchy. They belong in the countryside, with people who know how to handle and care for them. Properly. On riding on trails. They need to gallop and run - but not on a crowded beach, with kids! They poop on the beach, and that's a health hazard. Beach. Bare feet. Poop. Bad combo. There is no control.
We were at Canoe one night, and this horse just appeared, walked along the beach, and then took off up the freaking cliff road. No handler. Nobody to lead the "pack" and take charge. Horses need a leader. Whoever had that horse, got what they wanted ($$$) during the day, and then just let the horse go. You don't do that to such a majestic animal! That's terrible! They need care.
The JSPCA should be called in. They'd never sanction this practice. Control is needed. I doubt the Chukka Cove group would let this happen! Rules are for a reason. In this case, for the health and safety of a majestic and beautiful animal!
Just my 2 cents.!
Dogs and cats also poop on that beach...many locals pee in that same sand.....many tourist pee in that sand. All sorts of creatures discharge all sorts of bodily fluids in the water as well. Point is don't vacation in natures litter box if you have standards that exceed what is offered.
Chukka cove group=??? the same people that offer tours on the beach and in the ocean on horseback? link to tour: http://chukka.com/book-jamaica/detai...ive-adventure/
If so, I stopped 3-4 years ago at their stables and refused to do them any business because of the condition of their horses.
my 2 cents....
No they do not belong on the beach!
30+ years ago you never would see a horse on the beach.....
they just weren't around......just like Jet Skis
it wasn't till the last ten years or so that I have seen horses on the beach a lot....

Last December they were riding those horses at a full gallop. There are toddlers playing in the sand
on Negril Beach...they aren't aware or watching out for galloping horses. This is a SAFETY issue.
I wrote the Jamaica Tourist Board about it.

Are the people who operate and manage the horse riding insured? Just wondering who is responsible if someone gets trampled to death by a horse. Guess I never really paid much attention to the horses until my last trip when I saw one galloping down the beach full speed without the rider.
