Taking it easy
Sitting on my porch reflecting on how nice a day it's been for a first full day here. Flew in yesterday and hubbie and I dozed on the bus ride over. Ten years since we've been and the road to Negril seemed a lot calmer. Bus driver shared jokes and stories and stopped for a red stripe half way to Couples Swept Away. Huge thunder storms and arrived in a down pour.
Check in went smoothly - especially after mentioning our travel agent. Next thing you know there was no wait for our room and we have the best Atrium Suite in the place. Secluded but smack dab in the middle. Second story ensures we're right where we want to be.
A week of craziness and getting the house cleaned, our bags packed, our littles ones off on their own adventure and our mother in law set to keep an eye on the dogs - after waking up at 3am and a full day of travel - well it was quite a day.
So we threw our bags on the bed and zombie walked the place. Red stripes, Jamaican patties, a short walk later and the bed met us full force. Out.
The rich air and breeze greeted us at 5:30am and up we were. Now our whole schedule is out of whack and I could careless. It was beautiful and now it was time to unpack and get settled in. And settle in we did. By noon I had salt fish and ackee, callaloo, fish tacos, plaintains, conch soup and holiday stew with rice and peas. Of course plenty of red stripes and hummingbirds helped wash that down. Back to the room we go. Ahhh. Air. So nice to cool off.
The rain. Massive and welcome. Nothing like reading a book with rain and some light music.
But a girl can't sit around forever. Not in Jamaica with seven miles of beach waiting. Grab some umbrellas and off we go. The beach is chill. Walking and now it's hot, hot, hot. Time for a Red Stripe at Sunbeach. Then talking to Dennis the Menace. Before we turn around we know we need ice. Any drink with ice. Fast. Rondel Village to the rescue.
At this point my hubbie is protesting and it's time to turn back. We're hot, the sun is dipping and Air is calling. So here I sit thinking life is good. Time to see what the night brings.
