I used to post here allot many moons ago as Negril became my vacation of choice. Threw a big shindig at Idle Awhile every birthday, got bigger and bigger every year. Maybe too big. It's been five years since my last trip and in a few weeks will be back in Negril. Got my airport pickup confirmed by Dudley this morning. I am afraid to see what has changed as I have been going to Negril since 1983. I know allot of the staff at the hotels have turned over.
Made allot of friends over the years and hope I get to see them all. Not sure if Roy, the original gardener at Idle Awhile is still kicking about after suffering that stroke. He would always come and visit with me and the funny thing is he couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand him, but we always had a long conversation with allot of nodding. Was the highlight of every trip. The power of this board has been amazing, as right after he had the stroke and it was posted here, people lined up to help him. In fact one boardie brought him a hearing aid. He didn't even know him, but just wanted to help him. Amazing! The last time I was in Negril, a boardie named Charlie from W.V. put together a big boardie meet up and even had tee-shirts made with everyone's nick name on it. Does Jango still have a stand near Idle Awhile. He was the DJ at my wedding.
I know the word is out that I am coming so maybe things will work out. It's uncanny how word travels along the beach. Cliffs not so much. Love the cliffs and the beach so always split my time between the two. Can't wait to get there. Just so glad to be coming home after being away far too long.
