What do you mean? Is this your personal meds? Meds for Humanitarian purposes? You should have no problems if it's your own personal meds. going thru customs on the form i just note in the section that i have whatever i am taking at that time. and make sure it's in the pharmacy container with your name on it. For humanitarian purposes you probably have to have a letter from whatever agengency you are with and the one that will be benefiting from it. you may have to pay duty.

I understand the pick up point is in the airport but it cannot be accessed thru the airport. I would think any driver could tell you where. I am very interested in the out come.

    Re: Meds & Customs

Let's see if this information is of any help as you are not specific on whether you are carrying, shipping etc. these medications.

A few years back (during a long stay) I ran out of my VA medications and had them shipped to me via FedEx. FedEx handled all the Customs Clearance for an additional fee and a payment for a Medical Professional to check out the drugs before final clearance. The medications were available for pickup in Negril but the cost came close to $100 US for all the shipping, clearance, etc.

When you arrive at Sangster you have two types of baggage options: accompanied and non-accompanied. If you have medications in the accompanied baggage you don't even need to declare them at Customs if they are for personal use and are in the proper containers with the proper information. Sometimes they make you go into an office where an inspector looks at them before letting you through but it is a formality.

If you send them "non-accompanied" then a longer process kicks in. I am putting a link to describe the process but it is, of course, in a little "government speak" and ambiguous as to the process. http://www.jacustoms.gov.jm/home_tem...rts&group_id=1

The reason for the possible complication is the size of non-accompanied baggage. Smaller packages are sometimes available for pickup at the airport Customs but most times you have to go to the Customs at the wharf to complete the process and get your medications.

Most of the time my non-accompanied baggage are on pallets and I have to first go to the Customs Broker to pay the fees and then to the wharf warehouse to inspect the goods for value; pay duty and then get the final clearance.

I hope this helps and does not confuse you further.
