Ok, so as I read more posts, I am reading about more people having a "sub". In the beginning I was imagining it as a submarine sandwich but am now getting the real idea of what a sub is. Where can I "safely" get a sub?

You are safest getting it from a hotel person - that being said the sub you get at your hotel also stands a good chance of being beach schwag (i.e. sub-par).
On a couple of occasions I have asked the restauranteur where I'm dining if they had any thing above beach schwag I might enjoy for dessert.
On one particular occasion I wound up knee walking backing home thanks to this ploy, but it wasn't beach schwag.
It's a fair question and you'll probably get better answers than mine.
I guess the main thing safety-wise, is develop some level of trust with one of your hotel employees and ask them to get you a bag of subs.
If you don't eat subs often it may even meet your standards.
I get a lot of my subs from Colorado so I'm a bit jaded.
I've had great subs "on da rock", even better than Colorado but those have been isolated instances.
Party on!
That rug really tied the room together.
Rum-polephoreskin, you have an interesting name![]()
Rum actually came up with the term "sub." This was a few years ago. There is no such thing as true California-style chronic in Jamaica -- ever. But the ganja is above dirt brown seedy Mexican.
Further, it is incredibly easy to find. More than 50 percent of Jamaican males, aqed 18 to 60, will offer it. Most days, if you get around a bit, you'll be offered ten times or more per day. It is EXTREMELY ok to smoke it almost anywhere, and in fact there are more smokers than non-smokers at any given time on the island.
It is NOT okay to smoke it anywhere...please be respectful & ask the property owner if no one else is already smoking at an establishment with permission.
And, I would love to know where you got your statistics, Gerry. I would have said completely the opposite...less smokers than non smokers!
Since many tourists still come down here & think that it's legal to smoke here....I'm going to be the party pooper & remind everyone that it still is very much illegal to smoke "subs" in Jamaica.
You can get good buds. It's not the medical grade hydro from back home, but you can get the sticky.
I use my driver. He knows that I know the difference so he gets me some quality that I can never finish.
