    Re: Discover Yourself!

Day 5 continued... Father's Day on Bloody Bay

Many of the ladies kept complaining about the dirty water and how it wasn't warm enough...the kids had no issues at all with it. I suggested we walk the path to Long Bay to see if the water was better. I was not sure if we were going to have to pay or not...We walked down a narrow path that opened onto Long Bay. Many other people were there and we didn't have to pay. The beach was wider, water cleaner & clear and warmer...no more complaints from the ladies.

I'm a beginner swimmer and I usually don't go far out into the water. The kids told me not to be scared. They held my hands and we all floated together in the water for an hour or so, just talking. They asked me what was it like staying in a hotel and what the US was like...just so many questions. I thought it was cute. Pretty soon we had a whole group of people, floating and chatting. I wish I had a picture!

Our fun was interrupted by fire trucks, an ambulance and police cars racing past on the street...heading towards Hanover. We were not sure what happened but it was a sight to see...Everyone stopped what they were doing, watched and after the noise died down, went back to whatever it was they were doing. The kids decided to roll in the sand, run in the sea, rinse off and repeat.

    More to come!

This is still day five! The uploader only gave me a choice to upload 4 photos, so I split this part up.

    More of Day 5...

A few hours later, I said my goodbyes, gave hugs and told my friends and family I would see them in November or December. I had to get back to my room to pack. Soon as I made it back to Legends, it began to rain, rain and rain. I mean it was literally nonstop! While it rained, I organized my suitcase, decided what I would take and what I could leave behind. Over an hour later, the rain stopped and the sun re-appeared...thank goodness!

I grabbed my friend and we walked downtown to find food. I wanted to eat at Jeans Place, but the cook shop next door to hers caught my attention. It advertised "American Food," like burgers, hot dogs, french fries and more. We ordered fried chicken for me and my friend gets goat. The food came out and it looked disgusting...and it was! Not only did the lady serving us have a bad attitude but she acted like we were bothering her. This was the worse meal I had ever had in Jamaica! I did not finish it nor would I recommend anyone go there! I definitely don't remember the name of the place either.

    Very bland and nasty food!

We leave without eating most of the food we had bought or a tip. Oh well...next time I will stick to Jeans! We head to the ice cream parlor, I have a chocolate cone. Not too many people are out tonight. It makes me sad...soon I will have to leave such sights behind...sigh We walk to the atm, get cash and decide what else we could get into. Bourbon Beach it is!

We walk past the river, working girls sitting on the bridge, craft market, say hello to the rasta that sells sugarcane until we get to Bourbon. There are two guys selling jerk chicken, rastas selling soup, and women with drink stands. We didn't go in right away because they seemed to be getting ready...it was only 9pm.

We hang out at Legends for a bit until a crab started chasing me. He was superfast!

    Darn crab!

The beach is still busy. Music is playing and people are having late night dinners. We stop at the bar beside Kuyaba and have a drink before it closes, then we head to Bourbon. While walking, we hear whisps of conversation about a Hanover man killing his wife and himself because she no longer wanted to be with him. I tell my friend, maybe that is where so many first responders were headed to earlier.

The party at Bourbon is heating up as more and more people arrive. The DJ gives a shout out to all the fathers and to be fathers. The dancers take the stage and dance for hours. It was around 12 when I called it a night and the dancers were still going strong!

    End of day 5.

Kudos to you for taking the time to share your experiences. It seems that I'm not the only Boardie that has been looking forward to your Reports. LOL I for one stay signed onto Negril.com because of the Pictures and Accounts such as this that keep me feeling connected to a country that I have grown to love like a family member. I look forward to hearing about all the different places that I have yet to discover and also to hear about other traveler's experiences at places that are so familiar to me.

Again, thanks so much feeding the soul's of your kindred spirits.
