Well said, Clarity!
And I agree. I have also been following this thread and typically I dont comment on these type posts but I felt like I wanted to add my little $0.02 here

I also understand the OP, and when I first started reading it I thought I was going to agree with someone who was simply going to state that sometimes the vendors were a little too much. I am not sure that many on this board wouldn't agree with that. Some days I feel I would rather not have to say no thanks, and other days I enjoy the interaction and the "free delivery to my beach chair" I mean you could honestly never have to get up (welll maybe to go to the bathroom).
And I know full well that the vendors can be too much for some folks. Typically when people in my life ask me about Jamaica, I know who they are and I can judge if they will be the sort of people that will do just fine or if they are the type of people better suited for an All-Inclusive property. I even have some friends that I know without a doubt that Jamaica just isnt the place for them, you know what I mean? So when people come to me about Jamaica, I lead them in the way I feel most appropriate for them. I dont make the decisions for them, dont get me wrong, but I tell them which route I think would be best.
So, yes, we all understand that there are vendors on the beach. We also understand that sometimes they can be too much. Some people it doesnt bother at all, some people it does. Some are better at the interaction than others, which I think has a lot to do with how you will feel about the interaction.
So we Self-Proclaimed Lovers of Negril are not blind or unaware or in some sort of denial.....but the reason for the defense was because this person was not coming on an open forum and saying "Hey everyone, you know I found it a little annoying having to deal with so many vendors on the beach. Does anyone else share this feeling? Any advice? I was frustrated by it and not sure I had a good time because of that. Should I try again, or should I go somewhere else?"
You know, if it was posted in that way it would have been much more well-received. But the poster came on here with a post that seemed like he was attacking the great people of Jamaica, who are friends with many of us. And it seemed even more personal than that, some of the tone and words used and accusations were horrible, and just mean and unecessary. So I think thats why many on here responded the way they did.
If someone came to you and said, "You know I think your best friend is a little rude and she hurts my feelings, what should I do?" You would be ready to help that person probably......but....
If that person came to you and said "Your best friend is an evil, ugly hideous b**ch" I bet you wouldnt respond as nicely to them

So...thats just my take on the situation.

I definitely understand where he was coming from. I have been annoyed before, I have even been taken advantage of, but then I learned how to handle myself and it hasnt been a problem since. But never have I generalized an entire country of people before and pointed a finger like they were somehow all out to get me!

Stay on this board and listen to stories and advice and ask questions and you will do just fine on your first trip....better than just fine, you will have the time of your life!
