I enjoy the long-time vendors (not the drug dealers) on the beach. Have not had any negative encounters.

"Massaging", touching, rubbing aloe, trying to tie on a bracelet or put something in your hand is crossing the line big time for me. I don't hesitate to make that loud and clear if necessary. So far, it's not been necessary. Some of the pushy vendors are counting on the fact that most tourists don't want to cause a scene so will part with a couple of dollars. I say if you are uncomfortable and feel harassed, feel free to get LOUD and make a scene (i.e. "I SAID No Thank You!" or "Are you trying to sell me COCAINE?" at the top of your lungs) - then keep it moving, just walk away. Most of the harassers have a set territory on the beach and won't stray far from it. Some beach residents may even come to your aid because they don't need that type of activity in front of their property.
