    Good, Inexpensive Room in MoBay?

I can save a few hundred bucks on our flights if we fly out on a Monday as opposed to Sunday plus get an extra day. I thought it might also be nice to be nearer the airport than Negril for the last night. So, for one night where is a good place to stay in MoBay? Cheap, clean, and with a beach would be our main requirements. We are a family of 4 with kids that will be 8 and 3 at the time of out travel next March. We have stayed at Beach Club with Jean for the last 4 years and like it a lot. Please, not interested in places in Negril because we want to be close to MBJ for the flight home.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Caribic House. Right above the Bobsled Cafe on the Hip Strip with an amazing view of the sea. We stayed here prior to an early airport departure and was hoping for the best as I found it on Hostel.com. Let me tell you, we got there and were AMAZED. Better than many other hotels we stayed at for way less then they should charge. Check out reviews on TripAdvisor! The room was impeccably clean, great bathroom, fridge, and our own balcony where we got to watch the passersby on the strip and watch the sun dance on the sea below us. I seriously love the Caribic House! Check them out, you'll be happy you did!!!!

You might get more feedback if you post this question in the Mobay forum...

But check out Gloucestershire Hotel too they are right in the middle of the hip strip and directly across the street from the beach...Clean, Safe, Breakfast included, Bar restaurant on premises, a pool table computer room and the list goes on...Good Luck!

I stayed at Toby's resort during sumfest last year. Had a great time. Walking distance from hip strip.

Having to deal with the ups and downs of the airlines schedules we have had to deal with this question more than once and would like to hear what Negril folks think. We stayed once at the Holiday Sunspree for an overnight the first night when our flight landed late in the day. Did we love it, no. But for the money it was OK.

Beach access at a premium in mobay. Best beach is Doc cave beach but you have to pay for entry, chairs, food....not a pleasant experience in my opinion. Try Jamaica sunset all inclusive...kid friendly, kids probably free, decent beach, ok food, always on sale/

It's not economical, but take a look at the El Greco. It's on Queen's Blvd, but you take an elevator down to the Doctor's Cave Beach. Beach passes are included, and great towels. The units are 1 and 2 bedroom - we stayed there for years when our kids were even younger than yours. There's a full kitchen, big dining space, living room with TV and French doors open onto a nice sized balcony Powder room under the stairs. Upstairs are 2 really big bedrooms each with full bathroom. AC, Room Safe in the master bedroom, great pool on site, nice little commissary on site. Well guarded and very secure. The view from the walkway to the elevator is astounding. Good place for young kids as you can get them off the beach and away from the noise and bustle. It's maybe 20 paces to Doctor's Cave beach and more or less in the middle of the Hip Strip. 10 mins from the airport - more like 5. What the commissary doesn't have, the little convenience store on the ground floor by the elevators has. Take some bread and the kids can feed the fishies off the long concrete dock. It's awesome. And be sure to hit the pork pit. Walking distance to Margaritaville with an uber slide into the water. It's getting a bit dated, but the staff are wonderful. Resto and bar by the pool. I think there's a breakfast included. Many many many memories there! 2 years ago we did what you're doing and went into Mobay for an easier travel day and stayed there after an absence of 3 or 4 years- the staff greeted us with hugs and made a fuss! House keeping remembered our youngest who at 4 or 5 would "help" her do the rooms! (Whatever floats your boat, kid!). She didn't believe that little girl was now in her 20's! Take a look at it. They have a good webpage. Google El Greco, Ja. If you email them, you might be able to negotiate a better rate.

I also recommend Toby's. Nothing fancy but would stay there again for sure.
