{{Smithie}} I am so pleased to have opened and read this thread ... I will be arriving really soon & and need to check things at Costco before I go - I can carry Miss Sonia a "Costco Size" bottle of the Alkaseltzer (sp?)

I could not agree more with your thoughts about all the Big Kahoona's taking over the water fronts over in Lucea area / and elsewhere around the Island. I remember some years back when Grand Paladium was still in the building process - I expressed similar thoughts of :-( ... and you got after me cuz I was not supporting the progress and jobs and what not;

I think we all "hope" for more of a balance ~

anyhoo - continuing to enjoy your reports - always good fun.

as far as that GrandPaladium resort and other up-come-ing development beachfront projects, here're my *thoughts*

I'm conflicted

dem new resorts & other thing-ys are good & bad

in Lucea i've run into a boat-load of people who're working at the new BIG-resort
..they *seem* happy and express gratitude that it's there
.....but i know it's all about the money they're getting

i've also hearing bad-things about the environmental damage that's being done::: e.g., marine life

after my likkle run-in with that toy-cop security-guy at the camel-ride, i KNOW that that place, ain't island-resident *friendly*

while jogging past the GrandPaladium,
i saw something that didn't make sense to my from-foreign eyes, and likkle pea brain

it did not compute

at the GrandPaladium,
they got this tunnel that runs under the highway,
to the other side of the road,
to the main office,
and staff back-of-the-house thing-ys

this is also where the staff punches out for their shift

anyhoo,
i saw the staff-members being wanded,
as they exited the tunnel.
kinda-sorta like they wand us at the TSA-check point at the airport

why they do dat..??..

a SERIOUS thing this...!!!..

you won't believe how many times i've had requests for a from-foreign-wife

one guy was VERY specific::>> he wanted and '.Indian.'
not a Native American
...the other kind of 'Indian'

i *think* he wanted an Indian,
'cause he had strong-Indian features,
and for breeding purposes, he wanted these attributes in a wife

stay tuned
NEXT-trip i WILL get some of these guys on-video,
so you-all can see/hear dem in their own words
...'cause some of you's think i'm making this stuff up

3-4 of them wanted to be on video,
and give out their phone numbers
...but because of scheduling conflicts, the video didn't get made

but i REALLY want you-all to hear the '.why's.'
..why they want a foreign-wife

of course, we all know it's so that they can get the heck out of Jamaica,

I am happy to carry her the Akaseltzer Plus - I often use that too for a cold -

it has been too long since I have seen her. I can't believe how grown up Brian is!! Nice young man ~
