Might be overdoing it just a bit...

One of my favorite parts of the trip to Negril is hanging out in this little hammock hut Oceanside and reading (well, this often turns into napping, that's another story). Both my wife and I are pretty avid readers, and we both "save" books for the trip. I have a couple that were put out 5-6 months ago on my reader which I really, really want to get started on... But, I have saved them for enjoyment on the island. As we are now only 6 weeks out from the trip, I have been going through my list and making sure I've got everything I need/want to take with me. On the reader, I have 19 books I saved. Nineteen. Not a chance on this earth I will read nineteen books in 11 days. I think I overdid it.

Still, not as overdone as a woman we met 12 or so years ago (pre kindle/iPad days) who actually brought an entire suitcase of books for the trip.

I am so excited to go this year... Cannot wait to unwind from an entire year of stress.

You might want to round up to 20 books:A Brief History of Seven Killings: A Novel by Marlon James.

NYTimes book review: "From the acclaimed author of The Book of Night Women comes one of the year’s most anticipated novels, a lyrical, masterfully written epic that explores the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in the late 1970s"
We're all in this together and none of us is getting out alive.

Did that. I have a couple in the list that are parts of series, released back in the spring. When you really like to read, just having the title stare at you every time you open the kindle library is very difficult to pass up. I'm a big fan of historical fiction and dystopian future novels. Ken Follet has the third in his century trilogy that just came out. I read the second one last trip, it took most of a week.

And, thepegboy, I don't have anymore room! The float I am bringing down is taking up too much space as iit is . I have two paperbacks in my carryon as a backup, and also to,leave at the hotel (like most hotels, they have a mini-library with books guests leave).

I used to bring a suitcase full and then leave them at the Library when I left Now that I have gone digital - I bring my Kindle and a backup Kindle and a couple paperbacks just in case! And I drop off some cash at the library so they can continue their good work!
