Sounds like a great place to check out. I love these smaller places. In addition to fabulous food they usually have great vibes. Is this the same Rohan that sells paintings on the beach?
I wouldn't say they serve a better burger lol, but Rohan was all about making different things for us to try. The majority of dishes that he recommended involved seafood and me and the Mrs. love our seafood. If you want a great/amazeballs burger and a cold Red Stripe; Ahbee's hands down. You want some "Jamaican Style" food check out Rohan's.
I like Rohan's. Been there a few times since it's close to where I stay. Yetta is correct that it's old Serious Chicken spot
As mentioned, it's a good idea to stop by or call during the day if you are thinking of going for dinner.
That way they are sure to have what you want & you can set a time.
One evening we waited a while for chef to arrive.
After a bit, we decided to put our order in & head back home to hang out til food was ready.
I don't remember if they called us & we walked back, or they delivered it to us.
Either way, no problem for us & worth the wait!
Might not have been so happy if we cabbed there though.
Been to Ahbee's once.
My favorite in that area is Shark's!

I didn't realize Rohan took special orders. I will stop by there early in the day on my next trip and see if he can do something special for me and my wife. He does, however, have a decent regular menu. Curry chicken, conch, goat, brown stew whatever - never a problem.
One night, I stopped by and found the place closed, as well. As I walked into the restaurant, the lights came on and I heard someone from a back building say "Be right there!". Soon after Shauna showed up, unlocked the bar and served me a Red Stripe. We chatted for a little while before Rohan showed up and I placed my order. I could have went back to Mirage but I was having a good time hanging out with Shauna and talking about Jamaican life and life in general.
I also agree on Shark's. One of my favorite places on the West End.
We didn't order anything special. It's just that since it's a small place, they don't always have everything on the menu.
Which is no problem for me since I like a variety of Ja food. There's always plan B!
Our bigger issue was that chef was not there to prepare the food. He was supposed to be on his way........(from MoBay, maybe!
So, it was easier for us to tell them what we wanted & to wait comfortably at home.
The food is good & worth the wait. & it did not stop us from eating there again.
However, if we were really hungry that night-we would've gone somewhere else. Like Sharks's!
To help Rohan better prepare, it seemed to work out well that bigbamboo pre-ordered their dinner to get what they wanted, when they wanted it.

Is there anybody in town that can confirm if Rohan's Jamaican Style Restaurant is currently open? He was closed our past couple of trips, but that may be because it was slow season. We're heading down soon and I'm hoping to stop by, as we've had some great meals there in the past.
Well, I will answer my own question since we just got back from Negril. No, Jamaican-Style Restaurant does not appear to open on a regular basis. We did walk by one Saturday night and the place was all lit-up, but it appeared to be a Jamaican family party in the yard out back. I didn't see any patrons at the bar or restaurant tables. I said hello to a couple women that here hanging out in the yard, but they didn't welcome us in. I should have asked if Rohan was around, but it didn't appear that any meals were being served, plus we were on our way back from dinner at Hungry Lion. Oh well, maybe Rohan will open back up soon, since I believe his family lives in that yard.
