    Beach Road Accomodations

Usually stay on the Cliffs each February, but am uncomfortable booking at our usual place because of change in management(getting a bad vibe). Thinking about changing it up and staying close to the beach. Looking at Hidden Paradise and Coral Seas Gardens. Any insight about these properties would be appreciated or any other places in this price range for that matter.

We have been staying at Hidden Paradise for the last 10 years. It's a family owned resort, Enrick is great, and the people are very nice. It is across from the beach but it' just a hop skip and a jump. Close in walking to many places like Goa, Alfred's, Yellow Bird, etc. It's my home away from home.

I stayed at Hidden Paradise in April 2012. "Coincidentally" I developed a nasty respiratory virus while staying there. I checked the AC filter after getting sick and it was black with chunks of stuff in it. I'm thinking that's how I got sick. Could have picked it up on the plane and taken a few days for symptoms to show, but the AC filter was nasty. The virus lasted 8 weeks with bad coughing fits and if I get a cold now, those symptoms come back. If you go, take tools to remove the AC cover and clean the filter before using it. I don't think there was a maintenance person around to ask to do it. Checking in, I asked for help with my luggage as I was on the 2nd floor. A nice pregnant lady lugged my luggage, she also cleaned my room, appeared to work in the kitchen and do the laundry. I assume if I'd asked to have the AC filter cleaned, she would have had to do that as well. I wasn't able to get the cover off to do it myself and figured I was already sick, so didn't pursue it. Otherwise, it was an ok place, but wished I would have paid a couple of dollars more to stay on the beach as I felt disconnected from it across the road. Travellers has great prices, pool, service, food and vibe; I booked it for a night in January for $118/night incl taxes, a superior kitchenette room. Standard rooms have been refurbished and are well under $100. They have basic cabins with no AC for about $59. For $120 or less, there's Bar B Barn or Sunquest, beachside. Sunquest doesn't have a website anymore so you have to call to inquire...and they may not have anyone running the restaurant/bar, but a great location.

    Happy deciding!

Gotta keep it real, we've stayed at HP too many times to count for a decade or longer. Know all the family and are very close also, but having said that the place has notedly went downhill the last couple of years. It pains me to say this but to state otherwise for us would not be stating the obvious.

Last 2 visits we've moved on, hoping things change so we can stay there again, but for now even despite the low price point it's not for us.
