What's up with high speed horses?

Several times this week guys have been running horses on the beach at full gallop..what's up with this crazy behavior? Someone is going to get hurt or killed.. Just a matter of time...i can't believe that nothing can be done..

I hate to see them even walking slow on the beach.
To be knocked down by a thousand pound beast would be awful.
They can't stop on a dime.

This is a serious safety issue. There are toddlers playing in the sand on that beach.
They don't know to watch for galloping horses!

I reported this to the Jamaica Tourist Board last year.

Beachs are not the place for horses let alone running horses ,I have seen them many time on A full gallop going along the beach,

I agree that horses running on the beach are a danger, however, as a horse lover, I have enjoyed seeing the horses (which seem to be in very good health overall) and have had the pleasure of going on several awesome beach rides...... so my thots are, they need to use some common sense in running on the beach, but to eliminate them would be unjust.......

It wasn't that long ago, that the newspaper said it wasn't legal to ride horses on the beach. That probably is still true, so that would be why they are riding so fast. They don't want to get caught.

Yep, no different from the jet ski's. It took a tragedy for the authorities to do something. The negril police just don't seem to have any direction. Just a bunch of lazy officers looking for some shade.

I saw a child not looking almost walk into the path of one, rider not looking either, a bystander yelled and prevented disaster, still at that it was the KID who jumped out of the way.

Last year a fellow beach goer at our hotel told a story about a girl on a horse that got out of control near the Beachcomber.
Horse went galloping up the beach and ran under one of those thatch roof shade things to try to unseat its rider.
Fortunately, the girl had the presence of mind to duck and stay low. It could have been pretty nasty.
