Pelican Bar questions...

Hi- We have a party of 4 going to Black River, YS Falls & Pelican Bar booked with Rocky. Just wondering how much time do people usually spend there? Any good places to stop and eat in between these 3 places? Will the Pelican Bar have rum? (i'm not a beer drinker) How much on average do drinks cost? How much to tip the guys on the boat taking you there? Thanks for any info

hey Dee, we found that the first mile or so of Black River is the best to see the gators, so i would spend about an hour or so up the river , Pelican Bar is really cool, good for a couple of hours, we tried to call you, p.m. me if you have a new phone number, soon come

Didn't Rocky give you a rough time line of how long you'll have at each spot? It will depend on what time you leave Negril and what time you want to return too as to what your time frame might be - don't forget, you'll have to factor in road time travel between each place. He should have given you food suggestions too. If you're short on time getting in the three attractions for the day, at least make a stop in Middle Quarters where you'll find all kinds of local foods - just about anything you can imagine. You'll always find rum at the Pelican Bar and either sodas or water to mix it with. Tipping the boat captain is up to you amount wise - as with car or van drivers, I tip more for someone who actually has some sort of conversation I learn something few from rather than someone who just sits at the wheel (or rudder?) and drives. If paying in US dollars at the Pelican Bar, from what I remember, sodas and waters averaged about $2 each and beers were about $3 each but someone who has been there this past year can verify if prices are still the same.

I'd stop in Middle Quarters for some pepper shrimp on the way there, good stuff, lots of different soups too. It's on the way to YS. I'd do an hour or two at the falls, an hour on Black River, then Pelican Bar for however much time you have left.

Olivia- yes Rocky gave us a pick up time, we are not pressed for time to do anything quickly that's why I was just wondering on average how much time do people spend at the pelican bar and YS falls- thx for the info

He has a really great restaurant and bar service at fair prices. An American guy (from Idaho??) married to a Jamaican woman. Very cool spot!!
