Denge fever has similar symptoms and has been around for years…use spray and the island need education on not allowing water to pool and sit in the yard. N
Ja is a place I would never want to be sick...
The wife can not use off or most mosquito sprays, what does anyone else use in a case like this??
How about the Avon Skin So Soft, Bill?
We are bringing Repel Natural, Repel Lemon Eucalyptus neither contain deet. Also read on here about Shea Butter that's supposed to work. Someone else said a local restaurant owner took a lemon and spread it on them during dinner and they stopped getting bit, that gave credence to the lemon eucalyptus spray. Never tried any of this stuff but we are bringing it all to see what works. Don't really know if any of this is necessary or if all the hype is true. Really want to have a great time and not get sick. Off course a lot of this preparation will fall by the wayside once we get a buzz and start partying so who knows. Then again you can put all this crap on and get stung by a stingray, what can you buy that keeps them away?
I'm going to stop by REI and pickup some of this stuff before we head to Jamiaca:

Good lord, 98% DEET! This stuff better repel the higglers, as well as mosquitos.
I'm usually pretty lackadaisical with the application of bug spray and I usually get few bites but it's not a big deal to me. However, being down with flu-like symptoms for a few days can really put a damper on your vacation, so I'd rather be safe then sorry.
Thanks Lizardbeth i will tell her about that and also the Repel products. We have never had a problem except for the sand fleas now and then but like everyone say's,better safe then sick!
I am probably canceling my trip ..been going for too many years, don't trust the health system... I do not want to even take the chance of being "bent over". It is a state of emergency, after all.
