I have never been to Jamaica when lobster was out of season... I will be there in April this year and I was wondering if some places freeze lobster and still sell it during that time. Is that allowed?

My understanding is that the season is closed as of April 1st and can no longer be fished. However, you may still find lobster, probably frozen, until Apr 21 if they followed rules around declaring their catch prior to April 1. You may find places selling lobster after April 1 but they may be doing it illegally and should be avoided as I'm not sure how someone would know if declarations were completed.

I hope this helps.
We were in Negril for 9 days at the end of April last year. No restaurants were selling lobster (fresh or frozen) and there wasn't any vendors on the beach selling it either.
I'm shocked that places are finally paying attention! For years it seemed like several/many/maybe even most vendors ignored the law.
Now the lobster population can increase which equals more of them which equals better prices! Oh and them not being over fished to the point that they have to be imported.
