What a difference 9 years makes

We have been reflecting this morning on what a difference we have seen in the 9 years that we have been spending a few wonderful weeks each winte rin Negril. The first year we were here it seemed that the power went out every time we had a soaking rain or a little wind - now the hurricane lamps in our room are mostly decorative I used to walk to the Internet Cafe overlooking the water to check in at home - now I do it on my kindle at the pool. We used to pass on cereal for breakfast because goats or soy milk aren't our cup of tea - now we happily grab the cow's milk at the HiLo so we can breakfast in our room. The people haven't changed much and we are glad of it, for the housekeepers, grounds crew and office staff are what make us feel so much at home and keep us coming back to the same spot every year. And when I walk down the road and people say "I remember you" - now it isn't just a line - they really DO remember us and we remember them by spending our limited funds with the local fruit and craft vendors and by stopping into the small bars and restaurants often.

I concur! We started going in 2006. Our 13th trip will be in February. I like to throw off some of the locals by me saying "I remember you"! Goat's milk? It was 19 below zero this morning up nort. Minnesota that is.

The first time I tented at Roots Bamboo I remember mentioning that they could make some coin selling cold beers on the beach. The next year I was back and they had an old coke style cooler on the beach, plugged into an extension cord, selling beers for a dollar. Now look at the bar!
If you are worried about something, do something about it. If there is nothing you can do, why worry!
