    Cool Extended stay advise

    Hey all you experienced boardies, we are in need of your expert advise! Hubs & I are staying at Tree House for a month in March and are wondering if there are items we should plan to bring from home that we may not be able to find in Negril. We'll have a kitchenette unit so we plan to fix some of our own meals, mainly suppers. What are some must haves or nice to bring. Our own Coffeemate, sugar packets, that type of thing. I'm bringing my own snorkel gear but what else would make our stay even more perfect? Looking forward to all your suggestions. This will be our 8th trip to Negril and we can't wait!!!!!

    if you read, books...they are not to be found; all of your toiletries; batteries; no need for coffeemate...milk is easy to find; maybe a nice bottle of wine or two;

    Sure, you can get a lot of items at Hi-Lo, but it may be cheaper to grab some things from the dollar store before you arrive. I always bring ziplock bags, clothespins or bag clips, a couple of plastic containers for leftovers, Sweet & Low, etc. We only stay a week, but it's nice to not have to worry about finding these things when I need them. If I were staying a month, I'd make up a bigger first-aid kit with all the regular medications you keep at home, plus safety pins, band-aids, etc. Other things I'd want to have: batteries, electrical tape (you'd be surprised at the number of things you can use this for!), mini-sewing kit, extra phone charger, memory cards, small pair of scissors, extension cord, small flashlight, and a swiss army knife (or similar tool). I've read about some people bringing a small blender to make smoothies with all the fresh fruit available in Negril.

    I can't imagine spending an entire month - lucky you! We are just getting ready to spend our first full week this May - in the past, we've only been able to swing 5 nights because of work obligations. Enjoy!

    As the message above, everything you will need for cooking will be available at the grocery stores. They have all food supplies.

    collapsible cooler, duct tape, zip lock bags definitely, door alarm,. I have to be cautious of luggage weight but i like to bring the cheeses and catfish cause thats what i like and can't get there, (I stay 3 mos or more). i also found otc meds relatively reasonable too, but some 1st aid supplies, medical info and numbers, list of meds, medic alert bracelet if warrented.

    I went to the dollar store before I came and picked up a salt and pepper shaker, kitchen sponge, and a small detergent. Add rice to the salt to keep it dry. Yes, you can get all of these things here but this makes it easier if you can't get to the store the first day. Do bring zip lock bags - large and small because they come in very handy. I, too, stay a month.

    Thanks for all your ideas. Never thought about simple things like first aid kit, sewing kit and zip lock bags. We usually only stay 7 - 10 days but we're celebrating my 65th BD, my retirement and our 40th anniversary so we're going big this time! Keep the great ideas coming!
