Is Negril tourism booming or is there a reason I can't find any hotel.

Orbitz might be the problem. Try contacting the hotels directly or booking through their website (if they have online booking).

Have you tried any of the other booking sites, like Expedia, Booking.com, or Trivago? Not all sites carry the same hotels.

Try Roots Bamboo. It is a bit more of roughing it but you are on a great part of the beach.
