    Curious...with the deep freeze

in the US reaching further south, has it affected Negril? I know in the past if a cold spell hit Florida you could expect a bit of a cool down at night on da island.

The first time we went to Jamaica 18 years ago it was like this for almost 30 days in Dec. It was beautiful there and not cool at all. We have had to go in Nov the last few years so haven't had that getting out of the frigid temps thing. Going a month from today and I can't wait. Canada has much colder weather for longer than we do so I understand why there are so many Canadians that go every year too.

Depends on where in Canada you live. We were 55 degrees Christmas day and 45 on New Years day. Just got our first snow of the season yesterday, a mind blowing 2 inches. Of course I do believe South Western Ontario is a bit further south than Wisconsin. Believe it or not Point Pelee ( we're 25 minutes east of) is on the same longitude as Northern California.

One of the things I like about Jamaica is that it is less affected by frigid weather systems than a lot of other places in the Caribbean region - such as Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, the Yucatan, and of course the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. The land mass of Cuba tends to protect Jamaica from what's going on in the North Atlantic. And Negril is even better than the north coast of Jamaica in this respect.

Don't tell people this! It will drive up tourism. It is so true though. The other side does not have nearly as nice weather as Negril. Found out the hard way by going to Runaway Bay in December. never again.

The Trades blow from the Northeast at 20Kts most days in the Winter.

Negril is on the leeward side of the Island

It has been beautiful weather in Negril with the usual mid 80's - I am dreading the return to the deep freeze!
