We have done both, but our preference is to start on the cliffs and then move to the beach. Obviously there are different vibes for each place, but we really enjoy our morning walks along the beach and feel that our stay doesn't "wind down" without our trip ending on the beach.

Loved the beach back in the day......then split the time....now strictly stay on the west end. Go to the beach most days, but enjoy the cliffs at night, less hassle!

we visit the cliffs a fair bit on our trips, but we love staying on the beach, especially when the waves pick up you can still swim in the sea, plus walking the west end road you really have to be very careful, soon come

I asked this same question some months ago while I was planning. I ended up going cliffs first in Sept and Nov because I wanted to get there and unwind right away. For me, it's perfect and the great thing is that I get a couple days to get my tan going which helps turn the blinking "ATM" sign on my forehead off.

Yeah, Mikey, I need to unwind at the beginning of a vacation. My body and mind just shuts down, naps, and more naps do the trick. So, may be leaning toward cliffs first.

Judging by my family (and the apparent age of some of the posters) staying on the beach has more youth appeal and the cliffs are the opposite.
My daughter always stays on the beach.
On the other hand I know nothing (about staying on the beach) and have never been closer to staying on the beach than the Negril Yacht Club.
That rug really tied the room together.

If you can't decide what would work best for you then maybe you can look at things you may want to do and when\where they are occurring?

We like to start our trips on the cliffs to get back into the Negril vibe and get a tan, then we go to the beach. We stay for 2 weeks so its an even split 7 days cliffs and 7 beach. The beach is so much more relaxing once you get a tan, the hustlers get really excited when they see peeps with that milky white skin. Either way it is like 2 different vacations in one.
