Were you watching Caught on Camera this past weekend? I saw it this past weekend. I'm already afraid to parachute so I know I wouldn't do this.
Jamerican71,
Yes I saw that show but I remember back years ago when the guy first did it out in California, literally in a lawn chain with a BB gun. I guess launching from Negril you could end up anywhere??? Cuba?? South America?? In the sea?? How about launching from Blue mountain Peak???
If you are too afraid of parachuting this probably isn't a great idea for you!!! What about this as a service for guys trying to unload their wives / girlfriends??? Just kidding!! HAHAHA!!!!
In the past 20+ years I have been living here, nothing like this has been done on the island. And it would be my educated guess that no one attempted it back when Capt lived here in the 70's and early 80's.
The cost of the weather ballons (if you would even be able to obtain them without a permit) and helium would make this a rather costly stunt. Let alone the massive fines and probably jail time for pulling such a "stunt". And should something go wrong, you could literally land (fall) in an area that would be completely out of range of any human intervention.
So to paraphrase the old "dont try this at home" line, dont try this in Jamaica.

Just kidding Rob!!! You have to admit it would be a hell of a way to go!!! Cuban Air Force would probably shoot me down??? Sorry for the idea but it's been very cold here and it makes the mind wander!!
Have fun!!
Hey Jamerican71,
Let me know where I can sign up!!! Just kidding OK???
No way!
At 300 ft the trade winds are blowing at least 35Kts (40mph) from the Northeast Next stop would be somewhere in Nicaragua if you lived that long.
