Don't miss their nightly 'specials', if they still do that, that is! Manager's cocktail party, etc.

Stock up when the patty man and the fruit lady come by! We always brought one of the soft coolers for our beer. The bar will fill it up with ice for you. Have fun!

The girls at the front desk at Coco are always happy to break big bills for small ones; you'll need small bills - not all of the vendors have change

Happy hour at the main bar from 5-7 every night but Monday (Monday is the manager's cocktail party) - 2 for 1 beer, wine, rum & mixed drinks

Be sure to check out Best in the West across the road for jerk chicken

Have fun - Coco is a great property

Coco is our favorite place to stay on the beach. You'll love it there. Like tfw, we also bring a soft sided cooler with us. It's great for more than just drinks, I put my fruit in there as well as any leftover pork from Dean or patties. I attached a bottle opener to the cooler strap with a long bungee-type cord so it's always handy for those Red Stripes! Make sure you tip the person who gets your ice -sometimes if it's early and the bar isn't open one of the groundskeepers will get it for you.

I also bring various sizes of ziplock bags. A gallon size one is good for ice in the cooler if you make your own drinks. That way you know it's clean and doesn't get sand in it. We usually order pizza delivery from Ciao Jamaica one night, so any leftovers get sealed in bags before going in the fridge. If you drink coffee and like a particular sweetener, bring that for your room. I'm partial to Sweet & low, so I always have it.

Also bring insulated mugs for your beverages. Great for mixing your own drinks. Definitely check out Best in the West jerk across the street!

Take time to make contact with Andrew Gibson. The very intense looking guard who works the beach and carries a big stick (depending on what stage of whittling it down he's in.) He has a heart of gold and we've found most consistently friendly person on the beach. Your stuff becomes his stuff when your on his beach and you take off walking. Housekeeping gals are a happy bunch. Take care of them early and they may leave those extra nice simple touches when you return to your room. Expect little from the WiFi if you want to stay connected. Coco is a great base camp to walk the beach from. Fend off the vendors with a "no thank you" or buy something cheap the first day and you can point to that the rest of your trip a say you already have one. It did seem that the beach entrepreneurs up and down the beach have become aggressive in their pursuit of your cash this last trip. Beers here are $5, Firefly to your right up the beach was $2.50 if you want to stretch your legs. Bottles of liquor are priced ok at the gift shop, mixing that with Tony the Juice guys (short guy always in ball cap, big grin) $5 a fifth pineapple from his morning rounds (he's off the beach by 11:00) works real well. Bring a insulated mug. Enjoy

As sweetnothingness said, the wifi isn't the best. Last couple of trips we've been on the Sandy Haven side of the property. Their wifi is strong and doesn't require a password, so we typically connect to that...

Cool Re: Tips for Coco LaPalm

We were at CoCo first 2 weeks of November. They were just putting in a new wifi system at that time and it worked great all over the resort-even in all the guest rooms....We used to stay by the gazebo to pick up Sandy Haven, but should not be an issue anymore...
