Just reached the end of the route Taxi and I got out to walk the rest of the way.
I passed the little shops and headed down a road towards my Negril families house.
I saw a wee one, maybe 6-7 year old girl in the bushes. All of a sudden she leaped, then jumped again.
"What is she doing"
Then I saw a little white and yellow butterfly zipping low to the round.
The little butterfly was quick, but showed up well against the green bushes.
She had a book bag on her back and was wearing her uniform.
Obviously having a little play time on her way home from school.
Ahhh, the joys of youth.
I still don't know how they fly so quick with that fluttering motion.
She didn't give up. She darted and dashed to and fro.
"Man, she's having all the fun"
Sometimes she would creep, real slow. then bend quickly to only come up empty handed.
The bushes were not very tall, but they were taller than she was,
The butterfly stayed in the bushes and the girl was relentless.
I watched for a good 3 minutes. I chuckled and laughed to myself the whole time.
I was dying to join her, not to catch it, but the fun is in the chase.
There use to be butterflies everywhere in Chicago when I was young.
Soon, I started back on my way down the road.
Another reason to love Jamaica.
