Has anyone flown 2 legs of SW flight? Here's my question: In looking at SW website, it says that if there are 2 legs to the international flight, you will need to leave the secured airport area, go get your bags and recheck them for the 2nd flight out of US. Does anyone know this to be true? I booked the flight from Nashville to Jamaica at the same time but it has one stop in Baltimore?

You should be able to use the credit as long as you have the confirmation. I was able to use my ex's credit on Southwest even though they were his. I booked with his credits and he never knew.

I flew MEM to MBJ thru Chicago and had no crazy issues like that....Checked my bag straight thru and grabbed it after immigration and out the door!

Something to know about Southwest credits: Say you buy a ticket on Feb. 1 for $300. At some point, the fare drops to $275 so you rebook and have a $25 credit. That credit is good for one year from 2/1 (original purchase date). On Sept. 30th you buy a $200 ticket and apply that $25, but due to a work obligation that comes up, you find out in December that you have to cancel that trip. Because you applied the credit from 2/1/15 to that ticket, the ENTIRE $200 will now expire on 2/1/16. I learned this the hard way!

Bottom line, if you are using a credit toward a new ticket, book the new ticket as two one-way flights instead of a round-trip. That way if you are forced to cancel, only part of the total cost will expire early. Make sense?

I've got $75 that will expire in May so now I'm trying to find a cheap weekend trip so I don't lose it. It figures that my upcoming jamaica trip returns after my credit expires so I could only apply money toward the outbound flight. Hence, the remaining credit.

On the way to Jamaica you'll be fine, but if you have two stops coming back into the States, you'll have to get your bag at your entry point into the U.S. and recheck for your next flight.

You used to be able to do this, now only the person who has the funds in their name can use them. I even had a problem before because one credit had my middle initial and the other didn't, so I was only able to use one of the credits. The names have to be an exact match when using the funds.

I am not a frequent flier & this will be my 1st time with Southwest. It looks like our flights are $102 cheaper if I booked them now. How do I go about getting the cheaper price/credit. Do I book the flight again and then cancel the flights I booked back in November?

You pull up your online Southwest confirmation. There is a button to change/cancel flight. It will walk you thru the steps, essentially canceling the current flight and rebooking with the new price.

Never2manny, when you arrive in Balto you will go through immigration, then to baggage claim to collect your bags, then you pass through Customs (in case they have need to inspect your baggage). Right after you clear Customs is an area for transferring bags to your next flight. The staff there are usually really helpful. Then you have to exit like everyone else, find your next gate and go through TSA process.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully my 1.5 hour stop in BWI is enough time to get through customs and security.
