You used to be able to do this, now only the person who has the funds in their name can use them. I even had a problem before because one credit had my middle initial and the other didn't, so I was only able to use one of the credits. You should be able to use the credit as long as you have the confirmation. I was able to use my ex's credit on Southwest even though they were his. I booked with his credits and he never knew.
