We love it. Great swimming areas and restaurant, easy and good choices for off site food, and very close grocery store. Not the place if you need a lively atmosphere .

We have stayed at both places, and love them both.
Idle Awhile has a great relaxed vibe, and is our favorite place on the beach.
Tensing Pen is a beautiful quiet property, and they have a great restaurant.
You can't go wrong with either one.
One downside to Tensing is that it can be too quiet, not much of a bar/social scene

I love Tensing. Totally chill. You want nightlife, not so much. If you want a chill vibe and good food Tensing is the place. The grounds guy/resident fishing pro Michael is cool and will show you the places to fish off of the cliffs if you'd like.

Tensing Pen is wonderful. This past November was our fourth year there.

In Jamaica, everyone says they remember you, and some probably do, but at Tensing, they truly do remember you, and try and make your vacation what you want it to be. We spend our thanksgivings there now, and last year, I felt like I was having dinner with family, even though no one was related. All people from all around the world who come each year at the same time... Best Thanksgiving dinner I have had in years.

The life guards, Mikey at the pool, wait staff and front desk bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. When any of the owners are on site, they introduce themselves and seem genuinely concerned about your stay. My favorite part? The kitchen... I wanted various real Jamaican dishes this time around, and I got them. Admittedly, not everything was to my particular taste, but I got stuff that was not in the menu, prepared only for me. Not knowing what I was getting for breakfast every day was not only educational, but entertaining as well.

Honestly, I'll probably never stay anywhere else while in Jamaica. A couple years back, we did a split of Tensing one week, then Couples the second week. Couples is gorgeous, but I was not happy being away from Tensing Pen.

We have stayed at Idle Awhile twice and just were at Hide Awhile a few weeks ago. We love both places. Hide Awhile is beautiful and very quiet. Probably too quiet for some people but we were very happy there. Good food, nice rooms, something totally different. They have a beautiful pool there too. The place is just beautiful. We talked about splitting a week between the two on our next vacation. Both resorts are wonderful.

Does the guy Mike that gives fishing spots works at Tensing? Have you ever fished there?

Mikey works at Tensing. I have not fished there, as I don't enjoy fishing, but it's not for lack of him trying to get me to do so every year. I have seen many people fish from the cliffs, and have seen a few of the "catch of the day" trophies.
