I bought it here in San Antonio for $35, the reserve was about $30. The gift shop next to Treehouse wanted $100 for it. The value is in how smooth and tasty it is, like Col. Andy said, you don't have to mix it.

Here in Negril I've seen the 21 year old for around $125 U.S. I'm sure duty free it's cheaper. The older the rum the more smooth and complex the flavor becomes. Last time I was at Appleton I bought their 250th anniversary bottle of 35 year old. It was soooo good! I paid about $200 for it if I remember right, and there's no guarantee of that! I'm blessed that I can get the 12 year old Extra at my local liquor store for about $30.

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. KJV Psalm 68:4
Perhaps somewhere in the offices of W&N there are still a few bottles of the best of the best
In 1981 the company was expanding the in bond warehouse in Spanish Town
A false stone wall was uncovered and inside were several barrels of rum that were from the US prohibition era.
I was given a flask of it and in 1982 it tasted like fine Cognac. I wonder what it would be now.

I have actually seen the 21YO here in Milwaukee a few times. I bought a bottle about 5 years ago at duty free for $100 and quite frankly thought it was NOT worth anywhere near that. It wasn't smooth at all, for that $$$ I'll stick to buying single malt scotch
Back when Aqua was in business we sampled most of their rums, I made of list of what was for sale here at home and tried everyone they had at Aqua and the winner was Zaya even over much more expensive options.
I agree Zaya is a fine Rum. My personal fav is from Venezuela - Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva (green bottle) great to sip straight.
Yo Ho Ho and a bottel of rum...listen for my song as I stroll the beach Feb 26,27,28...
Thank you Johng. Very interesting and exactly what I was wondering about. I would love a bottle of that and just maybe one day.... Dreaming.....
Confession: I actually bring rum to Negril. Crazy, I know, but can't live without my Mount Gay.
rum bar..........in the hills thats overproof and nothing else.......a rum bar is a local bar like red dragon was in the day
Thanks to you all for the great information.
