No one wants (or should) blame the victim, but as you (and others) have pointed out, there are things you can do to make yourself less of a target as I tried to point out in my "becoming to comfortable" comments. While a crime is still a crime and unwarranted, there are common sense things we can all do not to "invite" crime.

No worries man. I did not mean to imply that you were blaming the victim, because that should never be the case. But as you correctly pointed out, there are simple ways to make yourself safer in very easy ways.
