I had a T-Mobile prepaid phone and they gave me the unlock code.

I checked with T-Mobile and they said that you should call T-Mobile customer service or contact them on line. They will give you unlock instructions for free assuming that the phone does not have any issues. Hard to beat FREE and with a reputable concern. You do not need to have phone with you.
