Why We Love Alfred's
We go to Alfred’s for breakfast three times a week. And we love it, here’s why:
Location, location, location. An easy walk from almost anywhere on the beach. Once you arrive you have a great view of the water and the beach passers-by.
Service. Quick, pleasant, professional, competent. Really appreciate not feeling that I’m imposing on a server’s personal time, as is the case at some other establishments. At Alfred’s they get it right and execute with aplomb.
The tables and chairs – classic, sturdy pieces made from local hardwoods by local craftsmen. I don’t know long they have been there but they look very well used. And they have decades of use left in them. Comfortable, solid. No cheap plastic that is uncomfortable to sit in.
A fantastic menu. Try the Jamaican breakfast – it will fill you up and you won’t have to eat until sunset. Wonderful! The prices are spot on – no gouging – and are listed in Jamaican dollars! For those of us who carry JAM$, that means the price of coffee doesn’t vary with the US dollar. Thanks! They also take Canadian and EU currencies. Nice.
You don’t have to ask for a refill – it just appears on cue.
Nice background music that is played at a comfortable, conversation friendly, non-intrusive level.
You don’t have to wait for the bill, somehow it arrives at the table just as you are thinking of it.
Finally - No Smoking. YES! Thank you Alfreds! So nice to sit and have breakfast free of other people’s smoke.
