    Re: One Love Pub Crawl

Arriving in Negril 4/22 and have booked to do the crawl that Friday. Will probably just go off on our own when we feel ready/tired of crowds/adventurous. Are cabs/route taxis frequent on that road if we don't feel like walking between bars but feel like going off on our own? I have traveled in other areas around the world with modes of transport much like route taxis so I feel comfortable giving it a try. We are staying on the beach but have heard great things about so many places on the West end that I want to be able to explore! We'd like to hit xtabi, canoe, rockhouse, sir d's, eddies.... any other recommendations?? thanks!

Quinn, you'll be fine. Everyone is a "taxi" and "tour guide" slash/ "farmer" - but seriously, make sure it's a red plate otherwise, open mind and mind and open heart. enjoy.

Been on the pub crawl numerous times, and it's always a good time, and always end up at at least one place I have never been! Just want to point out one thing .... have been with him at the start of the crawl, and on more than one occasion he has stopped to pick up people who had reserved ... and nobody was there to pick up. On one occasion, he went waaaaay out past Rui to pick up 5 people who had reserved, and nobody was there. I think I counted 11 no shows on that one crawl. That's more than half the bus. You can see how it can be a crap shoot for him as to how many show up. And he needs to fill that bus as much as possible ... hard to do if people don't show. Lesson: If you reserve, and change your mind, be courteous - call Lenbert and let him know you and your group of xx will not be able to make it.

I went last week and had a great time. The only thing I noticed this year was drink prices where way up. 8 bucks for a rum punch and a beer. Beer and rum punch on the beach 3 bucks or less each .I mentioned it at the first stop and got the speech about high overhead. I guess the overhead is a lot more on the cliffs .The sign out front said happy hour 2-3 and it was about ten to 3. One place charged 6 bucks for vodka and orange in a little plastic cup.
If its to promote business on the cliffs it did the opposite. I know some places I will never go near again.

If those are the drink prices they are charging on the tour that sucks. Maybe they are raising prices for the tour as it is a captive audience ?

I hope someone is alerting Lenbert to these problems for the long term success of his business. He has a very high TripAdvisor rating now but if this stuff is accurate that will go down and the AI people especially go by TripAdvisor.

I have found Jamaicans to be a patient people but not when it comes to money.

It is hard to convince someone to make $1 one hundred times with the expectation of hundreds of more times rather than make $100 all at once and hope the chance will come again.

There is a saying in the Cockpits, "You can shear a sheep many times but you can only eat them once"

Many struggling businesses look at Lenbert and the One Love Pub Crawl as the Messiah coming to save them once and not to return so they want to "eat" it now instead of growing a new, steadier "sheep shearing" business.

    Just my opinion.
