    Beach quality

I sure have noticed over the years how the beach sand seems to have become ever more dirty. In days gone by I would never hesitate to sprawl out on the beach, however these days now, even walking, I always wear sandals. Between the cigarette butts, dog and horse poop, empty bottles and food containers, the beach is becoming quite disgusting.
Is there a way all vested interests could spring for sieving of the sand to clean all the crap out of it? I would put in my $20.
If you are worried about something, do something about it. If there is nothing you can do, why worry!

They could make the beach non-smoking. That would at least eliminate the nasty cig butts. It would be a nice start.

for such a wonderful contry , the issue of garbage/recycling & littering is quite a problem
While MOST estabishment care for the beachfront ..@ the property line ....
    Some don't....
The food contaniers & cups that not only litter the beach , but the countryside ... piss me off the most

The sight of the beach the morning after a concert really makes me sad.

I think progress has been made. I see less roadside trash than 10 years ago. Phone cards used to be the biggest toss away.

Way better. On our first trip to Negril in the early 90s, it was really bad

I agree with Big_frank. We commented this year that the drive between Mobay and Negril seemed cleaner. The beach road in Negril is definitely cleaner with much less litter. On my morning beach walks I use to pick up bottle caps, cig butts and broken glass and this year really didn't see much. I will say my wife cut her toe one night on what must have been glass. Fortunately not bad enough for stitches and salt water helps heal.
