    beach hotels advice

Hi All - planning an upcoming trip to Negril, have never been and I am SO excited. We are going to stay 3 nts on the beach and then 3 nights in Little Bay to get a little off the beaten path. I have been looking at hotels and there are so many to choose from at so many price points it's hard to know what is a good deal. I would rather pay less and forgo the luxury aspect since I plan on being out exploring and lying on the beach most of the time. What are your rec's for a good spot on the beach? I've looked at Travellers, Legends, Country Country and Tree House and it's hard to tell from the websites. It does look like the beach is smaller at Travelers... is that possible? Any and all advice would be helpful!
    Thanks!!

When we were in Negril last week I noticed how damn crowded the beach at Legends was every day, I figured that was due to their other cliffs property sending folks to the beach for the day but it was too crowded for my tastes.

We stayed at Country Country for the 8 straight trip and still enjoy that, the new restaurant is nice and they have started building sumting where the old one burned down. My minimum requirement includes an in-room safe and mini-fridge and when we started at CC it seemed that for that price not many other places had as many things included. Another thing to keep in mind when comparing process is the two 10% taxes/gratuities that hotels charge, CC rates already include that plus a decent breakfast to the point we rarely have any lunch other than snacks bought on the beach like patties, coco bread or pork.

My favorite non ai beach spot is Idle Awhile. Of the ones you mentioned I only stayed at Country Country and its the one place I"ve stayed that I won't return, I know a lot of people love it, but the no screens ( if thats still the case) is a deal breaker for me. If you can get Tree House at a good price,I'd go with that from the ones you mentioned.

I'll second Country Country as well. Great cottages, solid restaurant, and awesome staff. They have upgraded the staff in a couple of areas and the newer additions are outstanding. They have plenty of room on the beach and less density than other places, Treehouse as a good example. Though Treehouse's beach was looking solid as of a month ago. If you want maximum beach space I would stay at Nirvana. Check out their stand alone cabins for a great value.

In my experience, most places are the same to me on the beach. I just need a bed, A/C, a mini fridge, and a safe. After I am sure that those are covered I look for the best deal. Are you staying at Coral Cove in Little Bay? If so, my wife and I were married there in '08. It's a nice little property and the staff is good. It is definitely off the beaten path.
