This (negotiating price) is actually quite common in the US especially if you do not have dental insurance. Many dentists will charge you much less if you are paying the cost out of pocket.

On a sidenote, I would suggest thinking twice before having dental work done on a vacation, of course if an emergency that's one thing but to travel just for cheaper dental work, not always a good thing. My aunt who is retired in Arizona has gone to Mexico to save $ on dental work only to have complications that no dentists in the states would touch forcing her to return after several days in much discomfort to Mexico. Her situation had nothing to do with using a sub-standard dentist in Mexico, anything can have complications.

All of the dentists I have dealt with in the US will negotiate and the amount can/will change based on tons of factors...

One price if you are a repeat client, a different price if you have a lowball insurance, a different price if you have good insurance, a different price if you have dual insurance, and then there is a different price when you say you just can't afford it...etc...Or sometimes they will say I can do this and you don't have to pay the co-pay if we can do the "deep clean" that they bill to the insurance company...Some shady stuff when it comes to dentists here...

    Maybe Canada is different, dunno...

Never cared for Mexico, besides my Patois is better than my Spanish. I live in Windsor, boarders Detroit. I was able to get both a U.S and Canadian estimate. Not much wiggle room for cash... with waiting rooms busting at the seams and insurers footing full prices. Weather you think me foolish or not, here I am, happy, healthy and sporting a great smile.

Dentist.... Dr. McLeggan, Kings Plaza, 876-957-9235 is about the best right in Negril.......
his assistants are always in the office during the business hours.......
they have done cleanings for mi in the past........and they were $55US........
they have re cemented two crowns and a bridge.......and it was cheap........
his costs are about 20% less for extractions, crowns, root canals etc as compared to the US....
if you need extensive dental work done.......mi would suggest Western Dental in Sav as they are 20% less than Dr McLeggan
and for dentures and partials......you hav Solomn(sp) 404-6638 in Red Ground that does super work and he's inexpensive.............
